Biochemtex SpA is part of Mossi & Ghisolfi (M&G) a multinational group – headquartered in Tortona (AL, Italy), world leader in the production and technology of polyethylene terephthalate (PET plastics) with global operations in US, Italy, Brazil, India, China and Mexico.

Biochemtex is the engineering and technology development center of excellence of M&G on biofuels and biochemical from renewables, devoted to the technological support of the M&G business,
including techno-economical feasibility studies of new technologies and development of basic engineering.

In 2006, Biochemtex begun R&D activities devoted to demonstrate the technological and environmental sustainability of 2nd generation bioethanol production from lignocellulosic feedstock (PROESAR technology).

The PROESAR technology is now being used at the 40.000 tpy 2nd generation bioethanol demonstration plant built by Beta Renewables in Crescentino, Italy, that has started operations in 2013.



Biochemtex is the leading industrial partner of the COMETHA project. It is responsible for the project coordination as well as for the construction, procurement, commissioning and start-up of the biorefinery, in addition to the setup and management of the biomass supply chain.
