Novozymes is a world leader in bio-innovation and specialised in industrial enzymes and microorganisms that are already used in over 700 biotechnology products in 130 countries.
Around 14% of NZ revenue is spent on research and development, and it currently holds almost 7,000 patents. Novozymes believes that by using industrial biotechnology, thousands of everyday products can potentially re-engineered to deliver enhanced sustainability performance, at no extra cost.
In the past decade, the company has invested heavily in developing superior enzyme products for the production of simple sugars from lignocellulosic biomass for the bioethanol as well as more advanced bio- products.

Novozymes contributes to the research and demonstration components regarding viscosity reduction, commercial-scale enzymatic hydrolysis processes and the development of a high-performance enzyme cocktail.
